ABOUT OUR FOUNDER

Singye Namgyal was born to a very humble family on 20th January, 1991in Khar Village, Pemagatshel. His birth was accompanied with wonderful sign for several days, the rainbow appeared from Yongla Riwo Pelbar Dargeychhoeling Gonpa or the Pelri Gonpa which is popularly known as Yongla Gonpa. After three days, he was adopted by the village astrologer (Tsi-pa – རྩིས་པ) Lama Karchung to advert the inevitable misfortune to either of the parents as prophesied by village astrologer himself when mother visited him to write his birth astrology which is called Kye-tsi (སྐྱེ་རྩིས). The village astrologer also advised the family to take good care of him as his greatness shall be revealed soon and shine in later life benefitting the sentient being in future. According to mother, he articulated first word “Bae” (བོད) which means Tibet in Dzongkha in eleven months and at the age of four, he shared his life in another time and place, a considerable pull back toward the events of the life and he frequently importunes parents to let him return to the community where he claims that he formerly lived.

At the age of seven, the unmoved parents enrolled him in Khar Primary School to start his career in education to learn and develop mentally, physically and also to gain an experience. Not to be outdone, he completed his last grade of basic education (class ten) in the year 2009 from Pemagatshel Middle Secondary School, Pemagatshel. However, his childhood days was seen as rough and tough but one of the cleverest children among the age and he shall never miss any kind of devotions being conducted in school and at village. He shall religiously pray and attend any kind of religious teachings and empowerments and even hoisted school prayers in the capacity of “Umze – the Precentor” for years.

After completion of class ten, he was working in Bhutan Postal Corporation and continuing education in Nangkor Higher Secondary School. It was that time that His Holiness Drupthop Kuenkhen Nima Rinpoche and one of his disciple came all the way in search of him from Kham in Tibet to Nangkor in Pemagatshel and he was then enforced to accompany His Holiness to Kham in Tibet. Upon reaching Tibet, he was assessed with numerous preliminary and detail intensive test to validate the reincarnation and on passing the test, he was recognized and enthroned as reincarnation of Drupthop Dorji Wangchuk, previous life Drupthop Nagabodhi (ནཱ་ག་བོ་དྷི།-The Red-Horned Thief), “one of the eighty-four Mahasiddhas of India who is said to have attained supreme accomplishment by snatching up and eating a piece of snot dropped by his master Nagarjuna”. After that, he was blessed and received esoteric teachings and empowerments from His Holiness Kuenkhen Nima Rinpoche and shouldered huge responsibilities. He recalled His Holiness said, “Now I am grown old and gave all my secret Dzogchen empowerment, you must shoulder my responsibility for the benefit of sentient beings through retreat” with short pause, holding his arms in prayers, “because of this, I was in retreat yesterday, I am in retreat today and will be in retreat tomorrow” remarked by His Holiness Drupthop Kuenkhen Nima Rinpoche

While returning from Tibet in 2011, there in Nepal he encountered some unforeseen complications whereby he lost all his belongings to larcenist and returned home empty handed. On reaching village, he left his job, discontinued his continue education and started practicing Dharma taught by His Holiness. He wanted to undergo long duration retreat to practice Dharma and meditate as instructed by His Holiness but unfortunately he lost his father. However, he didn’t shatter his dream and entered undisclosed retreat at Bumdra Ney above Paro Taktsang till January, 2013. During those retreat days in Bumdra Ney, he had no follower, disciple nor a trusted family. He was even charged by his own brother and family for faking the title, visiting Tibet and entering into retreat to practice Dharma. On such a hard times, he even had to eat feces as food for almost a month to complete the most secret retreat.

Later, for about three months, starting from the month of November 2013 to January 2014, he received teaching on Mipham Kabum Wang-Lung (Empowerments and Oral Transmission) from His Holiness 7th Namkhai Nyingpo Rinpoche (one of the twenty-five disciples of Padmasambhava) in Phuentsholing with other Trulkus, Khenpos, Lamas and devotees from all over the country. After that, for a second time from February 2014 to April 2015, he entered retreat at Paro Taktshang (Tiger’s nest) for a period of one year and two months – a place nearby the Taktshang Senge Samdrup cave where Guru Padmasambhava is said to have meditated for three years, three months, three weeks, three days and three hours in the 8th century.

In June, 2015, for about a month, he received teaching and empowerment on Terton Ratna Lingpa from His Holiness Trulku Thubten Palzang Rinpoche (the most senior living lineage-holder of the Palyul Tradition) alias Trulku Thubsang Rinpoche in Kathmandu, Nepal. And in the same year, he received empowerments and teachings on Kunzang Lama’I Shelung (The Words of My Perfect Teacher) from His Holiness Dzogchen Ranyak Patrul Rinpoche (fourth reincarnation of Dza Patrul Rinpoche – prominent teacher and author of the Nyingma School of Tibetan Buddhism) in Tokyo, Japan. The Words of My Perfect Teacher is the classic commentary on the preliminary practices of the Longchen Nyingtik (the Heart Essence of the Vast Expanse) – one of the best-known cycles of teaching and a spiritual treasure of the Nyingmapa School – the oldest Tibetan Buddhist tradition.

He also received numerous prayers and whishes from great Nyingma masters for the successful accomplishment of his retreats in later years for the benefit of all sentient being. And truly, many great Nyingma masters have great affection and support for him seeing him very extra ordinary. And one such event was an advice from His Holiness Dungse Garab Rinpochoe (a main younger generation holder of the Dudjon Tersar lineage and a Yogi-Rinpoche of God caste blood lineage of King Trison Deutshen (the human form of Manjushri of Tibet) and His Holiness Taklung Tsetrul Rinpoche (the head of the JangTer (Northern Treasure) Nyingma lineage, as the throne holder of Dorje Drak (Vajra Rock) monastery in 2015 at Bumthang. He was personally advised saying, “You have enough secret empowerments, and it is time for you to practice meditation and retreat”, with scarves and prayers blessing on forehead for successful retreats in future.

In the following months, after visiting few countries like Hongkong, Japan, Indonesia and Nepal, on 13th September, 2015 he received different levels of secret Dzogchen empowerments and teachings from His Holiness Juedzin Sonam Tashi Rinpoche alias Thonphu Rinpoche and entered three years three months retreat in Ugyen Pelri Lhakhang (the Monastery which is said to have been blessed by Guru Rinpoche on his second visit to Bhutan and is his enroute to Tibet) at Gidagom. He completed his three years three months retreat and marked the day with three days Tsokkyi Khorlo (ཚོགས་ཀྱི་འཁོར་ལོ) – feast offering on 20th September, 2018 at Ugyen Pelri Lhakhang, Gidagom with his devotees, disciples, followers & students.

After completion of retreat, he visited to Central, Eastern and Southern part of Bhutan to meet his devotees, followers, disciples and students. On 28th November, 2018, he visited Dragmar Nye in Tshenkhar, Lhuentse and got an audience with Dragmar Lama and was advised not to wander in village and town, rather continue long term retreat and practice Dharma for benefit of sentient beings and even prophesied that the current location of retreat center is very good but may face some water shortages in future. Dragmar Lama then gave teaching and empowerment on Yang & Ngedup and informed to practice one Moen Ngag (Pitch Instructions) – of the three, which he will visualize in dream one night. He then received Magom Sangay wang-lung empowerment by His Holiness Dzongser Jamyang Khentse Rinpoche at Bartsham Chador Lhakhang.

He also visited Nepal and received Jekling Kabum & Patrul Kabum Oral Transmission and Longchen Nyingtik Tsapoe Empowerment from Kyabje Shechen Rinpoche at Shenchen Monastery, Kathmandu, Nepal. After returning from Nepal, he also attended three day Krodikali Retreat & Four Foundation teachings and received Throema Wangchen (Supreme Krodikali initiation) from His Holiness Dungse Garab Rinpoche at Chelela, Paro.

He is therefore, deeply revered as Drupthop Rinpoche by his followers, disciples and devotees pedestal to their utmost faith and reverence. He, whatever he does, his actions are always towards practicing Dharma and benefit of sentient being. Whenever he shares his words of wisdom, he shares and reminds his followers, disciples and devotees to have good intentions at all times and prompt not to accuse, criticize or blame any Lamas, Trulkus and Rinpoches rather one should pray and have faith in Dharma for the larger benefit of all sentient being, without which, the purpose of living is lost. He says, “How much you were great in the past, if one can’t uphold the propagation of Dharma and work for the benefit of sentient being, it is useless. If we are able to do something at present for the spreading of Dharma for the benefit of all sentient being, he or she is greatness”. Thus, his clairvoyance is then known to all his devotees, followers, disciples and close students.
